To New Beginnings

I kinda tear up when my brain starts to comprehend the fact that I’m a front-end software engineer at Powell’s. There’s part of me that is just so thankful to be employed right now, and then there’s this beaming light inside me that is just proud of where I work.

I’ve interviewed with a lot of companies in the last year and I could classify them one of two ways. The first bucket would be companies I wouldn’t want to tell my family and friends about, I wouldn’t be proud to work there. The second bucket are interesting companies, that do cool things, that almost nobody has heard about.

You end up having to explain what the company does, and nothing makes people gloss over more than listening to a quick intro to what a company does. Nobodies got time for that.

Enter Powell’s! An iconic Oregon brand that I am proud to say I work at. Now, not everybody knows what Powell’s is, but if you live in the Pacific Northwest and/or you love books, chances are you do.

It’s too early to go into the details, but what I can say is, there’s a lot of really cool stuff coming on the horizon.

I am honored to call Powell’s home, and I’m looking forward to a long career with them.
